The Centre has been privately owned and operated since 2007, with child care service approval granted by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development for a maximum of 69 places per day across two buildings. The Centre was set up to provide the best possible quality of care for young children, and this is reflected in its philosophy. Over the years, the Centre has built a reputation for doing just that: educating children through well developed programs delivered by qualified, caring educators.
In May 2013, the Centre was among the first centres in Victoria to be rated as EXCEEDING National Quality Standards by the Australian Childrens’ Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA), the rating being part of an initiative to standardise and improve the quality of early childhood education across the country. As of June 2016, only 27% of centres assessed nationally had achieved a rating of Exceeding and above.* This places Beacon Street as within the top quartile of centres in the country. The ACECQA website provides a register of all childcare services and their quality ratings, searchable by postcode or name.
In addition to being a long day care service, the Centre also offers 3 and 4 year old full-time Kindergarten programs staffed by a Kindergarten teacher and two Diploma-qualified assistants.
Beacon Street Children’s Centre is operated by Hilltop Learning Pty Ltd, Department of Education and Early Childhood Education (DEECD) Approved Provider PR-40001224. The Centre is a DEECD Approved Service, and as such can work with families to get any eligible Centrelink payments paid directly into their accounts.
